In 1992
Professor Richard Davidson, one of the world's leading neuroscientists, met the
Dalai Lama, who encouraged him to apply the same rigorous methods he used to
study depression and anxiety to the study of compassion and kindness, those
qualities cultivated by Tibetan meditation practice. The results of Davidson's
studies at the Center for Investigating Healthy Minds at the University of
Wisconsin, Madison, are portrayed in Free the Mind as they are applied to
treating PTSD in returning Iraqi vets and children with ADHD. The film poses
two fundamental questions: What really is consciousness, and how does it
manifest in the brain and body? And is it possible to physically change the
brain solely through mental practices.
The
"Sleeping Beauty" tale is told from the perspective of the villainous
Maleficent and looks at the events that hardened her heart and drove her to
curse young Princess Aurora.
As a
cowardly farmer begins to fall for the mysterious new woman in town, he must
put his newfound courage to the test when her husband, a notorious gun slinger,
announces his arrival.
Four old
school friends reunite to attempt the epic coast to coast walk, across the
United Kingdom. As their journey unfolds, this comically incompatible foursome
walk full tilt into their mid-life crises.
Based on
the #1 New York Times best-selling book of the same name, Heaven Is for Real brings to
the screen the true story of a small-town father who must find the courage and
conviction to share his son's extraordinary, life-changing experience with the
world. The film stars Academy Award nominee and Emmy award winning actor Greg
Kinnear as Todd Burpo and co-stars Kelly Reilly as Sonja Burpo, the real-life
couple whose son Colton claims to have visited Heaven during a near death
experience. Colton recounts the details of his amazing journey with childlike
innocence and speaks matter-of-factly about things that happened before his
birth... things he couldn't possibly know. Todd and his family are then
challenged to examine the meaning from this remarkable event.
